Pookkalam (Floral Carpet) Competition

Floral Competition - Rules

Date: 02 September 2019
Time: 08.00 am to 11.00 am
Venue: Bhavani Atrium & Phase 3

  • A team can have a maximum of 10 participants
  • An Organization can register only one team
  • Registration should be done on or before 1st September 2019, 8 PM.
  • Registration Fee of 500 Rs shall be paid through Google pay to Anjana Thomas (9745607792)
  • During online registration, the details of the person given will be deemed as that of the team captain.
  • The team captain should confirm the names of the participants before 08:00 AM on 2nd September 2019. All participants are requested to carry their employee ID’s during the competition. Once the event has started swapping of participants is NOT allowed.
  • NATANA team will mark a space of 10 feet X 10 feet for each team.
  • The theme, design, and shape of the Pookalam is the choice of each team, however, the size should not exceed more than 6 feet X 6 feet. (Teams should bring a measuring tape to mark the space).
  • The competition starts at 8.00 AM. Each team will get 3.00 hours to design and complete the Pookalam.
  • The designs are expected to be hand drawn during the 3-hour time window.
  • Cutting of flowers and its associated preparations can be done before the start of the competition.
  • Usage of stencils, printed designs, mud, cardboard or papers (as the base/or as cut outs) is NOT allowed. You may refer to the design drawn on a paper or on an electronic medium.
  • Please use colored chalk for drawing the layout. Please refrain from using markers or other permanent marking items which can damage the floor tile.
  • Teams can use ONLY flowers and green leaves to make the pookalam. Materials like coffee powder, food grains, seeds, vegetables, sawdust, colored desiccated coconut or colored powder or any sort of artificial items are NOT allowed. Use of green leaves is allowed but should not exceed 20% of the pookalam
  • The pookalam should consist only of the petals of the flowers. The whole flower should not be present in the pookalam (An exception to this rule is if the team wants to place a lotus in the pookalam or other small flowers for borders and detailing)
  • No usage of crackers or other exploding items which can cause fire are allowed.
  • The ambiance of the pookalam can be made up by traditional accompaniments, but not compulsory. This will not be considered for judgment.
  • The teams are expected to clean the surroundings once the pookalam is complete and get the pookalam ready for judgment.
  • Maximum of two members from the team can explain the theme and respond to the queries of the judges. There are no language constraints.
  • No dress code to be followed for the event. It is the choice of each team and is not a judging criterion.
  • Judgment will start from 11.00 am onwards, any team requiring additional time will attract a penalty of -5 points for a 5-minute inclusive window.
  • A team will be disqualified for violation of above rules OR for any misbehavior towards the audience/ other teams/judging committee/organizing committee.
  • The competition serves to bring together the Technopark community as part of the Onam celebrations. While we perfectly empathize with the competitive spirit, we expect participants to accept the judge’s decision is final and taken in good faith.
  • Natana reserves the right to interpret the rules of the competition as appropriate.

Tug of War

Tug of War Competition - Rules

Time: 11.00 am to 01.00 pm (Reporting Time: 10:45 AM) 
Venue: To be confirmed

Registration

  • An Organization can register only one team
  • The competition is restricted to 16 or 32 teams based on the order of online registration – first come first serve basis
  • The registration will close once all the 16 or 32 teams conclude the online registration and the last date for registration is 1st September 2019.

Details

Equipment
  • Rope will be provided by the organizers.
  • All participants are recommended to wear gym/sports shoes. No cleats, boots, or spikes are allowed.
  • Gloves are not provided but are strongly recommended.
Entry
  • Each team can have a maximum of 7 members. There is no limitation in weight
  • Line-up starts 5 minutes before the game starts.
  • All the participants are requested to carry their employee ID’s during the competition.
Type of Competition
  • Match may be either best of 3 or knock-out and will be selected by the organizer to best suit the needs of the event.
General
  • Respect the judgment of the game referee(s).
  • Any questions or disputes will be discussed only with the Team Captain. Disputes will not be entertained after the game has been completed.
  • Do not taunt or bait opponents and refrain from using foul or abusive language.
  • Players violating these rules will be called “OUT” by the referee or may result in team forfeiture.
  • Participants should be aware that there is a risk of injury in participating in intramural sports due to the inherent nature of the activity. Individuals participating in intramurals should do this at their own risk. 
  • Once the teams have lined up the referee will make the following commands:
    1. “Team are you ready” – Teams to confirm
    2. “Pick up the rope” – Teams pick up the rope 
    3. “Tight the rope” – Teams lean back slightly but do not pull to take up the slack in the rope 
    4. “Pull” – Referee may use a whistle to issue this command.
  • The referee will signal when one team has won (pull white marking over center line).
  • The competition serves to bring together the Technopark community as part of the Onam celebrations. While we perfectly empathize with the competitive spirit, we expect participants to accept the judge’s decision is final and taken in good faith.
  • Natana reserves the right to modify/interpret the rules of the competition as appropriate.
  • A team will be disqualified for violation of above rules OR for any misbehavior towards the audience/judging committee/organizing committee.
