Onam Rally

Venue:To start from M Squared Cricket Ground and conclude at Park Centre

Registration

  • Participant are requested to register online and only one registration per organization is allowed. If multiple registrations are received, then the first registration will be considered.
  • During registration, the details of the person given will be deemed as that of the team captain.
  • Registration Fee of Rs. 1000/- shall be paid through Google pay to Sandhya Ramachandran (9645597142) which will be refunded after the event. 

Onam Rally

General Rules

  • The Theme of the Rally is "Welcoming Onam"
  • There is no limitation on the number of participants but, outsiders are not allowed to participate in the rally. If there is any violation, the team would be disqualified
  • All participants in the rally should provide their ID cards whenever asked by the organisers
  • All motorised floats should be restricted within the size of a Light Motor Vehicle, and mandatorily a copy of the Fitness Certificate of the vehicle, and the License of the Driver should be submitted beforehand to NATANA
  • he props should be handled by the team participants except for the above said motorized float/associated elements.
  • All individual teams have to ensure that the participants in the rally are medically fit and physically capable of participating in the event
  • Participants under the influence of alcohol or any other illicit substance/drugs shall be immediately reported to law and the team disqualified from the event
  • As far as possible, the floats/elements in the rally should follow a green-protocol and use of substances like plastic/flex/thermocol etc is not desirable
  • Strictly no fireworks/crackers during the rally and any abusive contents, usage of dangerous substances & misbehaviour will amount to disqualification of the team
  • After the event, the respective teams should ensure that the props/elements used in the rally are not left behind at the venue or inside Technopark
  • Parameters for the judgement would be based on theme, creativity, uniqueness, coordination & discipline
  • A maximum of 2 light motor vehicles are allowed per team.
  • Light motor vehicles 'drivers' license copy and vehicle fitness certificate copy should be submitted to Natana organizing committee on or before 16 Aug 2023 11AM. Late submissions will not be entertained. Motorized floats of teams failing to do so wont be allowed on the rally.
  • External artists accompanying the rally team for chenda melam, shingari melam etc will be restricted to 5 persons per rally team.
  • The decision by the judging panel would be final

Note:

  • The teams have to source all the items required for the rally contest
  • The order of the rally will be finalized through a lot during the team captains meeting a few days before the event

Pookkalam (Floral Carpet) Competition

Registration

  • A team can have a maximum of 10 participants
  • An organization can register only one team.
  • During online registration, the details of the person given will be deemed as that of the team captain.
  • Registration Fee of 1000 Rs shall be paid through Google pay to Aswin S (9946662480) which will be refunded after the event.

Details

  • NATANA team will mark a space of 10 feet x 10 feet for each team.
  • The theme, design, and shape of the Pookkalam is the choice of each team, however, the size should not exceed more than 6 feet x 6 feet. (Teams should bring a measuring tape to mark the space).
  • The team captain should confirm the names of the participants at the time of reporting. All participants are requested to carry their employee ID’s during the competition. Once the event has started swapping of participants is NOT allowed.
  • The competition starts at 7.30 AM. Each team will get 3.00 hours to design and complete the Pookkalam.
  • The designs are expected to be hand drawn during the 3-hour time window.
  • Cutting of flowers and its associated preparations can be done before the start of the competition.
  • Usage of stencils, printed designs, mud, cardboard or papers (as the base/or as cut outs) is NOT allowed. You may refer to the design drawn on a paper or on an electronic medium.
  • Please use coloured chalk for drawing the layout. Please refrain from using markers or other permanent marking items which can damage the floor tile.
  • Teams can use ONLY flowers and green leaves to make the pookkalam. Materials like coffee powder, food grains, seeds, vegetables, sawdust, coloured desiccated coconut or coloured powder or any sort of artificial items are NOT allowed. Use of green leaves is allowed but should not exceed 20% of the Pookkalam.
  • The pookkalam should consist only of the petals of the flowers. The whole flower should not be present in the pookkalam (An exception to this rule is if the team wants to place a lotus in the pookkalam or other small flowers for borders and detailing).
  • No usage of crackers or other exploding items which can cause fire are allowed.
  • The ambiance of the pookalam can be made up by traditional accompaniments, but not compulsory. This will not be considered for judgment.
  • The teams are expected to clean the surroundings once the pookalam is complete and get the pookalam ready for judgment.
  • Maximum of two members from the team can explain the theme and respond to the queries of the judges. There are no language constraints.
  • No dress code to be followed for the event. It is the choice of each team and is not a judging criterion.
  • Judgment will start from 10.30 am onwards, any team requiring additional time will attract a penalty of -5 points for a 5-minute inclusive window.
  • A team will be disqualified for violation of above rules OR for any misbehavior towards the audience/ other teams/judging committee/organizing committee.
  • The competition serves to bring together the Technopark community as part of the Onam celebrations. While we perfectly empathize with the competitive spirit, we expect participants to accept the judge’s decision is final and taken in good faith.
  • Natana reserves the right to interpret the rules of the competition as appropriate.

Tug of War

Registration

  • An Organization can register only one team
  • The competition is restricted to 16 men’s team and 16 women’s team based on the order of online registration – first come first serve basis
  • The registration will close once all the 16 teams conclude the online registration.
  • During online registration, the details of the person given will be deemed as that of the team captain.
  • Registration Fee of 500 Rs shall be paid through Google pay to Nishanth (9633679333) which will be refunded after the event.

Details

A. Equipment

  • Rope will be provided by the organizers.
  • All participants are recommended to wear gym/sports shoes. No cleats, boots, or spikes are allowed.
  • Gloves are not provided but are strongly recommended.

B. Entry

  • Each team can have a maximum of  7+2 substitutes. There is no limitation in weight.
  • Line-up starts 5 minutes before the game starts.
  • All the participants are requested to carry their employee ID’s during the competition.

C. Type of Competition

  • Match may be either best of 3 or knock-out and will be selected by the organizer to best suit the needs of the event.

D. General

  • Respect the judgment of the game referee(s).
  • Any questions or disputes will be discussed only with the team Captain. Disputes will not be entertained after the game has been completed.
  • Do not taunt or bait opponents and refrain from using foul or abusive language.
  • Players violating these rules will be called “OUT” by the referee or may result in a team forfeiture.
  • Participants should be aware that there is a risk of injury in participating in intramural sports due to the inherent nature of the activity. Individuals participating in intramurals should do this at their own risk. 
  • Once the teams have lined up the referee will make the following commands:

    “Team are you ready” – Teams to confirm 
    “Pick up the rope” – Teams pick up the rope 
    “Tight the rope” – Teams lean back slightly but do not pull to take up the slack in the rope 
    “Pull” – Referee may use a whistle to issue this command.

  • The referee will signal when one team has won (pull white marking over centre line).
  • The competition serves to bring together the Technopark community as part of the onam celebrations. While we perfectly empathize with the competitive spirit, we expect participants to accept the judge’s decision as final and taken in good faith.
  • Natana reserves the right to modify/interpret the rules of the competition as appropriate.
  • A team will be disqualified for violation of above rules OR for any misbehaviour towards the audience/judging committee/organizing committee

Uriyadi

Registration

  • An organization can register only one team. During online registration, the details of the person given will be deemed as that of the team captain.
  • Registration Fee of 500 Rs shall be paid through Google pay to Niju R S (9387279877) which will be refunded after the event.
  • The competition is restricted to 25 teams based on the order of registration – first come first serve basis.

Team Composition

  • A team can consist of a maximum of 3 participants, with an additional supporting member (total 4). Teams can be comprised of all males, all females or a mix of both genders.

  • Time Allotment: Each team will have 4 minutes to attempt breaking the pot.
  • Sequential Attempts: Team members will take turns attempting to break the pot within the given 4-minute timeframe.
  • Blindfolded: To add challenge and excitement, all team members must have their eyes blindfolded while attempting to break the pot.
  • Winning Criteria: The team that successfully breaks the pot in the shortest time will be declared the winner.
  • Fair Play: Participants must not throw the stick to break the pot, as this will be considered a foul, and the team's chances will be nullified.
  • Official Start: The game will commence only after the whistle is blown to ensure a fair start for all teams.
  • Winner Declaration: The team with the shortest time to break the pot will be declared the winner.
  • Runner-Up Team: Additionally, a runner-up team will be selected based on the second-best timing.
  • Dress Code and Spare Clothing: Participants should be aware that there is a possibility of getting wet during the competition. It is advisable to bring spare clothing in case they need to change after the event.
  • These rules aim to ensure a fun and fair competition while promoting safety and inclusivity among all participants. The competition serves to bring together the Technopark community as part of the Onam celebrations.
